In an effort to prevent the spread of fake news, the ability to modify shared link previews has been removed by Facebook. Read full press release here

Here at Social Report we fully understand and agree that ability to change shared link's image, title and description can easily be abused. We also, however, believe that there are many legitimate reasons for needing to be able to customize link previews. Social media manager often run into issues with links being shared not having adequate markup which makes shared posts look really bad.

To mitigate and balance between Facebook restrictions and valid reasons for needing such modifications, we will still support and allow link previews to be modified. We do, however, reserve the right to suspend any user who abuses this privilege in violation of our terms.

The good news is that you don't need to do anything special. Customized link previews will continue to go out customized. You can learn more on how to post links and images to Facebook here.

The not so good news is that there is a small caveat. When you share your post and if you did modify link preview, underneath the link preview, where it would normally display link domain name, it will now display our shortener domain: You can however implement your own shortener (please contact our support if you want this done).

If you DO NOT MODIFY link preview - the post looks as it always does:

If you DO MODIFY link preview (i.e. by changing its image, or title, or description)

Your post will look almost as it always does, except it will have a shortener domain underneath the article.

Note: Users under Pro plan will have their vanity links shown instead. To learn more about link shortener setup - please contact support.

We've created a short video to help you as well:
