Live streaming has changed a ton over the past two years. In the early days we had Ustream, then Periscope and Meercat took center stage, and just two years ago, we were introduced to Facebook Live, Facebook’s in-house live streaming platform.
Facebook Live brought live streaming to the masses. Anyone with a Facebook account can now stream their daily lives and give the world an unfiltered glimpse into their life. Further, brands are now embracing live streaming more than ever. Everything from keynote speeches to employee Nerf wars are broadcasted on Facebook Live.
To celebrate Facebook Live’s second birthday, Facebook released an infographic of Live’s usage numbers over the past two years. The infographic is chock-full of interesting statistics including:
- There have been over 3.5 billion Facebook Live broadcasts in the past two years
- The number of people streaming on Facebook Live has doubled year-over-year
- Facebook Live videos have been reacted to more than 150 billion times
Take these statistics to heart if your brand hasn't yet joined the live streaming movement. Your customers are using the Live platform, and it’s up to you to meet them there.
