Shutting down automations

Effective immediately, Social Report is shutting down all of its social media automations.

We had good intentions when launching social media automations. They were originally intended to save social media managers time by automating rudimentary tasks that would otherwise take valuable time. 

Today, we've made the decision to pull all social media automations after reevaluating their effect on social media. Even though these automations are helpful, we're worried that there's too much room for abuse and misuse.

Do note that nothing else on Social Report changes. Scheduling, Inbox, Analytics, Exportable Reports, Listening, and other related features also remain unaffected.

Do note that all currently running automations will cease immediately. We appreciate your understanding.

What's next?

Our automation engine was intended to serve 2 purposes:

  1. Identify social situations that are important enough to act upon (i.e. thank a user for retweeting, or thank a user for a new review).
  2. Handle these tasks automatically.

Since #2 above creates a lot of opportunity for abuse, we will soon come out with a different system - the system that will instead delivery you daily recommendations of various actions to take. Effectively it will be similar to the current feature that you know as 'Automations' without the actual 'Automations'. That new system will focus more on making good recommendations. We hope to make this available in a month or so.
